Any response to a message is feedback.  This sounds simple enough --- however, it's the quality of the feedback that makes the communication more or less effective.

How do you get your message across to someone else?  Part of what you need to decide upon is what tool to use to send the message: text, land line, snail mail, email.  This is called the "CHANNEL" of communication.

What happens when you have more than two people communicating?  There is a huge difference in the quality of the communication and your ability to be an effective communicator once the number of communicators exceeds yourself and another person.

What is effective communication?  What makes us effective communicators, as opposed to ineffective ones ?  What gets in the way off effective communication?
